Prague beer tour

 

Day 1 Prague

Arrival at Prague airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 2 Prague - bus tour coverning  the New Town with Wenceslas Square at its heart, the historic Old Town and the picturesque Lesser Town.

 

After luNch go to the bar in the heart of the Old Town in Prague, where your Beer Master and guide for the afternoon starts you off with a welcome beer.Then, take a short ride to the first pub brewery, which lines up 7 different beers for you to sample. Beers range from a light and a dark unpasteurised lager, to German Weizen beer and a sour cherry beer. Overnight.

Day 3 Prague – Zatec (160km/3h) - Prague

Drive west to the town of Zatec for its annual hops festival. Have a tour of the brewery taste some fresh beer and then enjoy a day of many local beers and regional music and food. Return to Prague for overnight.

Day 4   Prague – Olomouc (283km/4h)

Start the day wuth guided walk through the Prague Castle complex to discover the major sights within. Admire the grandeur of Saint Vitus Cathedral, the architecture of the Old Royal Palace, and enjoy stunning views over the whole of Prague. From Prague Castle straight ahead for the river, for a stroll across Charles Bridge, and for more wonderful views of the city. In the afternoon drive to Olomouc.Overnight.

Day 5   Olomouc

ENjoy a guided city tour with a guide, including a visit to the local brewery. Olomouc is an exploring sightseer's paradise. A good place to begin is the main square with its huge Town Hall and the Holy Trinity Column (the largest column in Europe), which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. It is the second largest historical square in the Czech Republic. Don't miss the astronomical clock on the Town Hall. It is said to once have rivalled the beauty of Prague's, but was seriously damaged in the WWII and then rebuilt and repainted at the beginning of the Communist regime to reflect worker's values. Also visit St. Wenceslas Cathedral, St. Moritz church, St. Michael's church , Baroque Fountains and Modern fountains. Return to hotel for overnight.

Day 6   Olomouc – Telc (200km/3h)

This morning leave Olomouc bound for the beautiful town of Telc. Along the way make a slightly illogical detour to Cerna Hora and Dalesice to see their famous cellarsEat lunch and taste their beers in their tasting rooms. Continue to historic Telc - whose entire town centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its traditional architecture and design - your home for the night. This evening have a guided walk with a local guide and seek out the local beer Zacharias.

Day 7   Telc – Cesky Krumlov (115km/2h30min)

The morning is free to stroll around lovely Telc, until depart for Trebon and the Regent Brewery - a classic example of an independent Czech brewery. Tour the brewery and enjoy a tasting with lunch of regional Czech fare. Continue to another UNESCO site - Cesky Krumlov for the night.

Day 8    Cesky Krumlov

Enjoy this fairytale-like medieval town. The tour begins with a visit to the main attraction, the mighty Renaissance castle, once the seat of powerful lords, the Ro?mberks and the Schwarzenbergs. The castle houses a rich collection of period furniture, Flemish tapestries and historical weapons. After take a stroll through the city's quaint streets, lined with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque houses. These ancient buildings once belonged to powerful noblemen. At the evening visit the Austrian owned Eggenberg brewery - a part of Cesky Krumlov throughout the ages. After the tour and tasting enjoy dinner in the brewery restaurant with a glass of beer.

Day 9 Cesky Krumlov – Holasovice (38km/50min) - Zvikov (76km/1h30min)

Board the bus to visit yet another beautiful UNESCO site - Holasovice a living example of Rural Bohemian Baroque tradition. Continue to Zvikov Castle Brewery to spend the night on their guesthouse, adjacent to the gothic Zvikov Castle – perched on a promontory at the confluence of the Otava and Vlatava rivers. Tour the brewery, explore the castle and enjoy a Czech dinner and hospitality.

Day 10 Zvikov – Prague (100km/1h40min)

Return to Prague at the afternoon and transfer to the airport.
